Discover the walled town,
Concarneau intra-muros
The Ville Close is a little jewel: old houses, ramparts and boutiques! A word of advice: avoid rush hour; the lights are even more beautiful at the beginning and end of the day! Access to the ramparts is via the Tour du Gouverneur (02 98 60 76 06 for visiting times). Information and documentation on the town are available at the Maison du Patrimoine (02 98 50 38 68), located at the entrance to the walled town in a 15th-century half-timbered house.
(Un été à Pont Aven by Jean-Luc Bannalec, p.12) “The walled city had been built on an oblong, narrow island, in such a way that it seemed to be set right in the middle of the basin into which the nonchalant Moros flows. A painter could not have rendered it more beautiful.”
